  • Gemini rolling out to Gmail, Docs, and more with Google One AI Premium
    Google has introduced the new Google One AI Premium plan, which grants access to Gemini features within Gmail, Docs, and various Workspace applications for personal accounts. These features aim to enhance productivity by allowing users to generate content, improve writing quality, and automate tasks without switching between different tools.

  • Stable Diffusion 3 arrives to solidify early lead in AI imagery against Sora and Gemini
    Stability AI has announced Stable Diffusion 3, the latest and most powerful version of the company’s image-generating AI model. The model uses an updated “diffusion transformer,” a technique pioneered in 2022 but revised in 2023 and reaching scalability now. Stable Diffusion boss Emad Mostaque notes that the new model is capable of multimodal understanding, as well as video input and generation.

  • Google Introduces Gemma, a Lightweight Open-Source AI
    Google has introduced two open-source conversational AI models called Gemma 2B and 7B, serving as alternative options to their proprietary Gemini AI. Compared to Gemini, Gemma offers greater flexibility and allows integration with both local and cloud-based services. However, Gemma is less powerful and primarily designed for developers and researchers working with open-source AI.

  • Microsoft admits that OpenAI's Sora will come to Copilot
    Microsoft has confirmed that OpenAI's Sora will eventually be integrated with Copilot, a tool for developers. The specific timeline for this integration remains unclear, but Mikhail Parakhin, CEO of Advertising & Web Services at Microsoft, hinted at the integration in a recent tweet exchange.

  • Reddit is licensing its content to Google to help train its AI models
    Google has made a deal with Reddit to access its vast catalog of user-generated content to train its AI models. The deal provides Google with a valuable source of content it can use to train its AI models. Reddit's Data API will help Google "better understand" content from the site. The deal comes as Reddit is expected to go public in the coming weeks. Neither Google nor Reddit disclosed the terms of their arrangement, but Bloomberg reported that Reddit had struck a licensing deal with a "large AI company" valued at about $60 million a year, which was also confirmed by The Verge.
